Friday Feature – King Solomon

Jun 8, 2012 | personal

I've always been a kitty person. Growing up we had many cats and my first cat of my own, Lola, I adopted in college and she's still with me all big-boned and lazy as any 10 year old cat could be.

But this kitty is different and this is my ode to him, King Solomon. Solomon came home with us from Pet Smart in early April. Jason and I had recently lost our black tom-cat Spooky over the winter months and I needed a little whiskered friend to fill that space in my heart.

Our trip to Pet Smart was to see another black kitty but he could care less about us being there. But the little mackeral tabby in the bottom cage stuck his paw out and mewed a sweet little "come pet me" mew. Instantly I was smitten for this kitten.

Something strange about this little guy is his snorting. I've heard that some cats snort a little, but this dude snorts all the time! The first night he was home and he fell asleep on our bed, Jason and I were in tears with laughter listening to this kid snore. Louder than an average adult! But that's just how he's made, perfectly healthy and we love him…even when he bites my ankles in the morning for food.
